What are tokens and how are they used?

Updated Jul 5, 20261 min read

Tokens, sometimes called Mark Tokens, are the unit of usage for Mark's AI. Every time Mark's AI does work for you, such as answering in chat, generating creative, or researching your market, it uses some tokens. Each plan includes a monthly token allowance.

A few things to know

  • Tokens measure AI usage, not ad spend. They are separate from the money you pay Meta.
  • Bigger tasks use more. Generating images or having a long conversation costs more than a quick reply.
  • Some things are free and never use tokens, including the chat titles Mark generates automatically and your weekly reports.

Watching your balance

You can see your current balance and a usage breakdown at any time in Plan & Billing. The breakdown shows usage by source, so if your tokens are going faster than expected, you can see exactly which activity is behind it.

Think of tokens as fuel for Mark's AI: chatting and creating use it, and reporting is on the house.
