What image and video specs does Meta need?

Updated Jul 5, 20261 min read

Meta shows ads in many placements, including feeds, Stories, and Reels, and each favors a different shape. Providing the right sizes keeps your creative looking sharp everywhere.

Handy rules of thumb

  • Square (1:1) works well in feeds.
  • Vertical (4:5 for feed, 9:16 for Stories and Reels) fills mobile screens.
  • Use high-resolution images so they stay crisp on large displays.
  • Keep important content away from the edges, so nothing gets cropped when Meta fits the image to a placement.
  • Video should meet Meta's length and format limits for the placement you are targeting.

How Mark helps

Mark generates creative in suitable sizes, and you can preview each ad before it runs to confirm it looks right. If an asset does not fit a placement well, Meta may crop it or skip that placement, so previewing is the fastest way to catch a bad fit.
