Change the audience on an ad set
An ad set's audience decides who sees the ads. You can change it without rebuilding the whole campaign, which makes testing different audiences quick and low-risk.
How to swap the audience
- In chat, pin the audience or targeting you want to use. You will see a reach estimate so you know roughly how many people it covers.
- Ask Mark to apply it, for example "use this audience on my summer ad set instead."
- Approve the change, and Mark updates the ad set.
What changes and what does not
Only the audience on that ad set changes. The budget, schedule, and creative all stay exactly as they were. That means you can test a new audience against the same offer and creative to see what works.
Targeting by location
When you build a targeting preset you can target whole countries, specific cities (each with an optional radius in km or miles), or both. Countries and cities in different places add together, so "Israel plus Berlin" is fine.
You cannot combine a country with a city that sits inside it. Meta rejects "Israel plus Tel Aviv" as a conflicting location. Pick one: keep the country to target the whole country, or keep the cities (without their country) to target only those cities. The builder will flag this and let you remove the country in one click.
Give it time to settle
Changing an audience on a running ad set can briefly return it to Meta's learning phase while delivery re-optimizes for the new targeting. Let it run for a few days before judging the results.
Not sure who to target? Fill in your Business Info and ask Mark to suggest an audience. It will use your ideal-customer details to propose something sensible.
